Victorian Lace 2 - erste Seite / first edging

Die erste Seite, das No. 20 Bordürenmuster, ist geschafft. Nun kommt das Mittelteil über die gesamte Schallänge, dann nochmals die No. 20 Bordüre. Geht doch schnell, oder ?

The first side panel - the no. 2o edging - is done. Now I have to work the center part over the full length of the scarf and then once again the no. 20 pattern. Quick knit, isn't it ?

Der Neue - Victorian Lace 2/ The new one - Victorian Lace 2

Ich würde gerne Bilder meines FERTIGGESTELLTEN ersten Victorian Lace Shawls zeigen, der, in dem für mich zum Reinbeißen schönen Altrosa-Ton, aber.... vor ca. 2 Wochen, ich strickte so vor mich hin und dachte: Yo, den bekommst Du noch fertig, bevor der 5 Hinweis des Mysteries da ist. Und da *schreck*, das Knäuel sieht bedenklich klein aus. Beruhigung war angesagt. Die Wolle wird ausreichen. Schließlich war die Angabe in dem Buch richtig. Mir ist noch nie die Wolle für ein Projekt ausgegangen. Strick' schneller, dann langt es auch :-D Neeee, mir fehlen 10!!! Reihen, klitzkleine Reihen. Ok, ich hatte vorher schon gelesen, dass auch andere Probleme mit der im Buch angegebenen Wollmenge hatten, aber mir passiert das ja nicht...denkste. Mein hilfreicher Engel in den Staaten, der mir auch die Wolle besorgt hatte, half auch diesesmal aus der Patsche. Das Knäuel ist auf dem Weg zu mir...und dann gibt's Bilder.

Das war die Vorgeschichte, jetzt der Hauptgang. Da Mystery fertig, andere Dinge zwar im Laufen, aber so nebenbei, habe ich letzte Woche mit dem weißen VLT Schal mit dem Nr.20 Spitzenrand angefangen. Er ist jetzt schon ein Stückchen länger als auf dem Bild. Vom Stricken her ist das Muster nicht so eingängig wie andere Folgen, die ich mir sonst selbst über 30 und mehr Reihen leicht merken kann, aber es geht dennoch recht gut von der Nadel. Gefällt mir gut, was da bis jetzt da ist.

I would have shown pictures of the FINISHED Victorian Lace Shawl, that one in the yummy rose colour but...2 weeks ago, I was knitting happily and I thought: well, you will finish that shawl before the last mystery clue will be out. And then *shock* the ball looked alarmingly tiny. I had to calm myself saying the yarn would be suffice. After all the book gave that information and I have never run out of yarn before. Knit faster and the yarn will last longer :-))) Noooo, 10 !!! rows missing, 10 small rows. Well, I had read before that some knitters had problems with the yarn amount given by the book but no, that would never happen to me...thought wrong. My yarn angel in the States who sent me the yarn bailed me out. She bought another ball and the yarn is on its way now...then the pictures.

That was the prelude now the main -short- story. Since the Mystery is finished and other things are still on my needles but on the side I started with the scarf with no. 20 edging last week. He is a little bit longer now than on the picture. The pattern is not so easy to memorize to me than other even longer patterns of about 30 rows or more nevertheless it is fun to knit and comes smooth from the needles. I like what I see.

Victorian Lace Today...noch einmal / once again

Das ist das Ausgangsmaterial für den Schal mit der Nr.20-Spitzenbordüre (wow, alles ins Deutsche übersetzt...klingt seltsam :-D) aus Victorian Lace Today. Meine heißgeliebte Kids*ilk H*ze von R*wan in der Ausführung Kids*lk N*ght in einem gebrochenen Weiß mit Silberfäden. Edel! Sobald der andere VLT Shawl fertig ist, wird dieser Schal in Angriff genommen.

This is the yarn for the 'Scarf with the No. 20 edging' from Victorian Lace Today. It is my beloved Kids*ilk H*ze from R*wan in the variation Kids*lk N*ght in off-white with a silver strand in it. Very elegant! As soon as the other VLT shawl is finisehd I will cast on for this scarf.

VLT Spider Net Shawl

Hey, ich komme voran. Am Sonntag habe ich die erste Längsseite geschafft und die erste Ecke umrundet. So etwas über 50% des Shawls sind damit fertig. Die Ecken sind Konzentrationsarbeit und ohne Strichliste für mich nicht zu schaffen. Excel ist sooo toll, schöne Tabellen :-D

Hey, I am working my way through the piece. On Sunday I finished the first long side and worked the edge around the first corner. A little bit more than 50% of the shawl are done. The corner edging requires a lot of concentration I would not manage without a tally. Excel is sooooo cool :-D, nice tables.

VLT-Mittelteil fertig / VLT centre finished

Das Mittelteil ist fertig, also 41% der gesamtem Shawl. Selbst ohne Spitzenumrandung, die jetzt noch kommt, würde das schon ein sehr schöner Schal sein.

The centre is finished, 41% of the complete shawl. Even without the yet to come edging it would make a wonderful scarf.

Lagebericht / Situation report - Victorian Lace Today Shawl (VLT)

Es geht langsam voran, aber erfolgversprechend. Das Muster des VLT Shawls ist recht eingängig. Gestern Abend konnte ich die 32te Wiederholung abschließen. Ich sollte also gerade 57% des Mittelteiles beendet haben und 23% des gesamten Shawls.

Things are going slowly....but nonetheless promising. The VLT shawl pattern is easy to remember. Yesterday I ended up with the 32nd repeat. If I did my maths correct this means I have done 57% of the centre pattern and 23% of the complete shawl.

Es geht voran / Progression

Die ersten 3 Wiederholungen sind geschafft...von 57 :-) Das Stricken geht leicht von der Hand, die Wolle ist, wie KSH, etwas 'glitschig', aber ich verzeihe es der Schönheit.

The first three repeats are done... of 57 :-). Knitting goes smoothly, although the yarn is a little bit slippery (ok, I use my usual add* turbos) but I forgive this beautiful yarn nearly everything (ecxept his unravel behaviour...hope I never have to do this).

Ein unwiderstehlicher Drang / A compelling urge

Ich habe noch nicht einmal einen Tag der Versuchung widerstehen können!!! Gestern abend, es war gemütlich, ich strickte so vor mich hin an meinem FF&L Shawl...da lag doch schon die -vorsichtshalber gemachte- Kopie des Victorian Lace Today (VLT) Shawls. Ich wollte ja nur mal so richtig lesen, was auf mich zukommen sollte...irgendwann. FF&L hat so um die 1.152 Maschen pro Reihe und jede Reihe setzt weitere 2 Maschen hinzu. Demnach dauert eine Umrundung schon etwas, und blind stricken ist schon gar nicht drin. Also, da lag sie, die Anleitungskopie, und sie schien zu rufen: Lies mich und folge mir! Grrr. Ich habe es vieleicht noch eine Stunde geschafft (inneres Mantra: Diese Reihe noch, diese Reihe!). Dann holte ich Wolle für den provisorischen Anschlag und legte los. Wenigstens die ersten 4 Reihen. Und somit sind wieder 3 Werke in Arbeit, und alle drei sind Stücke, auf die man sich konzentrieren muss. Vielleicht sollte ich noch ein Paar stumpfsinnige Socken starten, so zur Entspannung.

I was not able to resist seduction for just one day!!! Yesterday evening, cosy mood, I was peacefully knitting along on my FF&L shawl...there it was...a copy -made just to be on the safe side- of the VLT shawl. My intension was to read the instructions to get an impression what the shawl is about...somewhere in the future. FF&L has 1.152 stitches now, every row increased by 2 more. Hence it takes a while to get a row done. Blind knitting is impossible. Anyway, there it laid, the copy. I could hear it saying: Read me! Follow me! Grrr. I could resist one more hour (my inner mantra: only this row, this row!). Then I fetched some waste yarn for the provisional cast-on and began. 4 rows. There are again 3 pieces in work now . All three are projects you have to concentrate on while working. Maybe I have to cast-on for some stupid easy socks, just to relax.

Heute in meinem Postkasten .../ In my mail box today ...

Ich könnte hüpfen . Heute kam sie mit der Post...nach nur einer Woche des Weges...aus dem fernen Amerika...meine Douceur et Soie. Eine liebe Bekannte aus den Staaten, die ich über den Mystery Shawl 4 KAL kennengelernt habe, hat sie mir besorgt und zugesendet. Ich hatte mich so in einen Schal aus 'Victorian Lace Today' aus dieser Wolle genau in diesem Altrosa verguckt. Diese Wolle ist an sich so wie Kids*lk H*ze von R*wan, aber eine andere Farbpalette, eben dieses Altrosa.

Ich glaube kaum, dass ich es aushalte zuerst den Frost Flowers & Leaves Shawl fertigzustellen, bevor ich dem neuen Tuch anfange .

I could jump and dance. What has been in my mail box today? From far across the ocean? My Douceur et Soie. A very dear friend which I got to know at the Mystery Shawl 4 group purchased it and sent it to me. I felt head over heels with a shawl from 'Victorian Lace Today' with that yarn in that shade called Velvet Rose. The yarn ist very similar to the famous Kids*lk H*aze from R*wan except for the colour range and that velvet rose shade.

I guess that I will not be able to finish the Frost Flowers & Leaves shawl without keeping my fingers from starting the new shawl .
