Hexipuffs Woche/ week 9 + 10 & time-out :-)

Woche 10 - nur 5 … und immense Unlust beim Gedanken an Hexipuffs :-D. Ich habe Woche 11 nichts Hexipuff-ähnliches in die Hand genommen. Dafür ist mein King of Confidence Remake fertig geworden. Es fehlen noch helle Knöpfe.

Week 10 - I just made 5 puffs ... and was immensely bored. In week 11 I avoided anything that could just slightly remind of hexipuffs. Instead I finished my King Of Confidence Remake. Just the buttons are missing. I have to buy new light ones because I used lighter yarn than in the 1st one.

Jetzt bin ich auf 48 Puffs. Noch ein langer Weg.

I have around 48 puffs so far...and a long way to go.

Revival - ein kuscheliger Pulli/ a cozy sweater

So vor ca. 2 Wochen habe ich einen Pulli aus Sockenwolle fertigbekommen, den Revival nach einer Anleitung von Fallmasche. Im Original wird der Pulli mit einer ein bisschen dickeren Wolle als Sockenstärke gestrickt. Ich wollte aber partout einen Pulli aus Katia Socks Olé Condor mit Alpaka haben. Diese Wolle ist einfach herrlich, wurde aber - soweit ich informiert bin - eingestellt aufgrund einer drastischen Rohstoffpreiserhöhung.

Around 2 weeks ago I finished a sweater out of sock weight yarn, Revival by fallmasche.The original pattern uses a slightly heavier weight yarn. But I wanted tonuse the phenomenal yarn Katia Socks Olé Condor with alpaca. I love this yarn. As far as I know it is discontinued due to drastic increases in raw material prices. I just was able to snatch 5 leftover balls. 500g would be enough...and they were. I used less than 400g.

Ich habe also zuerst einmal eine Maschenprobe angefertigt. Auf Basis dieser Probe ergab sich, dass ich mit Nadeln 3,5mm die größte Größe stricken muss, um so etwa eine Größe 35-36 hinzubekommen. Die Anleitung ist sehr gut geschrieben, mein einziger Stolperstein war das Aussschnittbündchen. Ich habe es nicht so ganz gerafft. Auch nicht schlimm. Ich habe einfach das ansonsten verwendete Bündchenmuster genommen. Funktionierte einwandfrei.

I made a gauge swatch and calculated that I would have to knit the largest given size in the pattern to achieve a size between 35 and 36. The pattern is well written. The only problem to me was the crew neck shaping pattern. I did not get the point. No problem, I just used the 'normal' ribbing pattern with short row shaping as per pattern. It worked perfectly.

Ansonsten haben ich noch im Rücken eine paar verkürzte Reihen eingearbeitet, damit ich beim Bücken nicht rückenfrei bin. Und ich habe lange Ärmel gestrickt. Es hat schon etwas länger gedauert, aber ich bin dem Ergebnis sehr zufrieden. Der Pulli ist weich, warm und sehr leicht.

Apart from that I worked a couple of short rows in the back so I do not get cold when I bend forward. The sweater took me a while but the result is worth the time. I have a warm and cozy and very light sweater.

Hexipuffs Woche / week 5+6

In Woche 5 habe ich mehr als 7 Puffs hinbekommen, aber auch nur, weil ich das Bett hüten durfte. Woche 6 blieb es dann beim Soll. Einen superhohen Suchtfaktor haben die Teilchen irgendwie nicht mehr für mich, aber das Endergebnis zählt.

In week 5 I made more than 7 hexipuffs due to being ill and having to stay in bed. Week 6 was back to the normal 7. I am not addicted to the puffs anymore, but the overall goal is what counts.

Neben den Puffs habe ich dann noch ein UFO von letztem Jahr - den Mondo Cable Cardi - fertig bekommen, yeah. Die Wolle war von Aldi (Romy), etwas rauh, aber mit einem Rolli drunter durchaus ertragbar. Die Farbe ist klasse. Ich würde mir die Wolle durchaus wieder kaufen. Für diese Anleitung war sie ideal. Ich habe noch über ein Paket "Restwolle", die eventuell noch einen Mondo Cable Pullunder oder vielleicht sogar einen Pulli (3/4-Ärmel) ergibt.

Besides the puffs I finished a last year's UFO - the Mondo Cable Cardi. Yeah! The yarn is a little bit coarse but okay with a shirt underneath it. The colour is wonderful. I would buy the yarn again. It matched the pattern perfectly. I still have more than a package (6 balls) left and will probably knit a Mondo Cable vest or even a pullover with 3/4 length sleeves.

Jetzt arbeite ich zum Einen an ein paar Handschuhen von letztem Jahr Januar, genannt Eisblume. Der erste Handschuh war irre, Perlen plus kleine Zöpfe und verschränkte Maschen. Beim zweiten erschlug mich dann das zweiter-Handschuh-Syndrom, in Anlehnung an das zweiter-Socken-Syndrom. Ich versuche mich jetzt mal durchzubeißen.

One of my current WsIP and old UFOs are a pair of gloves called Eisblume (frost flower). The first one was a joy to knit - beads, small cables and twisted stitches. The second one seemed to follow the 2nd sock syndrome rule, here now 2nd glove syndrome. Now I try to finish the thing :-)

Und zur Abwechslung stricke ich dann noch an einem Remake einer Jacke, die trotz kleiner Größe riesig war. Da aber zum Teil mit handgesponnenem Garn, wollte ich das Teil nicht weggeben. Nach über einem Jahr und wenigen Tragens aufgeribbelt und erneut angestrickt. Diesesmal halte ich mich nur an die Anzahl Maschen (kleinste Größe), Farbwechsel und Muster - bis auf krause Reihen - werden ignoriert.

And for a little change I knit on another old UFO and remake of a cardi I knitted with some handspun yarn together with commercial yarn. The cardigan turned out way to huge. After keeping it this way for at least a year I decided to unravel the thing and redo it, smaller size and new commercial yarn colour to show off the colour variations in the handspun. I do not follow the pattern's instructions for colour changes nor patterning (just the garter rib part) instead I use as much handspun as possible from the old cardi for the yoke.

Zu guter Letzt noch etwas Neues - ein Nuvem. Nicht aus Wollmeise, sondern aus Drops Lace. Ein angenehmes Nebenherstricken, was aber wahrscheinlich länger dauern wird.

Last but not least there is also a real new project - the Nuvem shawl. Not with Wollmeise Lace but with Drops Lace. It is a nearly mindless and currently good portable project. Because of all the masses of thin yarn I guess it will take me a bit longer.

Mir kam da mal so eine Idee, .../ Well, there came to me this idea..

...dass man - in dem Fall ich - doch als Großprojekt des Jahres 2012 den Beekeeper's Quilt machen könnte. Im letzten Sommer oder so, als das Muster herausgekommen war, hatte ich schon ein paar Hexipuffs gestrickt. War auch spaßig, aber ab August war Weihnachtsstricken angesagt und damit alles andere mehr oder minder abgehakt...auch die Hexipuffs. Der Januar ist wieder mit ein paar Geburtstagsprojekten gepflastert, also wäre ein guter Startpunkt Februar. Gestern hatte ich dann nichts mehr an Kleinkramstrickerei für die Tasche und da kam mir dann so ein Hexipuff genau richtig. Nr. 1 am 29.01., Nr. 2 am 30.01 (Mittagspause).

... that I probably could do the Beekeeper's Quilt for Big Project 2012. I normally do not setup project plans for the upcoming year regarding knitting or any other of my recreational stuff. But I would like to have this quilt. I made a couple of puffs last year but when I started Christmas knitting around August everything 'normal' was on hold and I forgot about it. In January there were still some birthday presents to be done and so February would have been a perfect starting point on my road to the Beekeeper's Quilt. Surprise, with no small portable project on any emergency project list anymore I made the first puff yesterday and today -during lunch break- the 2nd.

Ich möchte gerne 7 Stück pro Woche schaffen. Würde das klappen, hätte ich am Ende des Jahres den Grundstock für den Quilt zusammen. Und außerdem könnte ich jede Woche einen Eintrag mit dem Ergebnis der Woche einstellen. Würden zwar immer nur Hexipuffs in unterschiedlichen Farben sein, aber es setzt mich unter Druck.

My goal is to knit at least 7 hexipuffs per week. If I could meet those requirements, I would have enough puffs for the quilt by the end of the year. And I could update this blog at least once a week with my 'boring' puffs. Yeah, I am not planning to do something fancy-schmancy. So it will always be a variation on the same theme.

Ansonsten möchte ich meine UFOs abarbeiten, von denen die meisten nicht unbedingt portabel sind. Entweder futzelig mit ständig Muster und Perlen oder zu groß.

Apart from that I would like to finish some of me WIPs. Most of them are of the just-do-it-at-home kind, means too huge or with beads and a lot of charts.

Und vielleicht schaffe ich es ja auch, ein paar andere Dinge zusätzlich einzustellen. Fotos werden wahrscheinlich alle nur noch mit Mobile-Kamera gemacht. Sonst klappt das gar nicht. Ich bin zu faul, den PC zu starten und mit Kamera und Bildbearbeitung noch zusätzlich Zeit zu verbringen.

Maybe I will be able to upload some more projects. Pictures will be taken with mobile cam only, I guess. I am too lazy to start my PC and spend time with my camera and photo editing.
