Tadaa ... Rosy

Bevor ich den Mystery 5 Shawl geblockt hatte war Rosy dran. Wieder ein mächtiges Gezerre. Die Wolle würde ich nicht gerade mit dem Label Lace-Weight versehen. Sie ist recht dick. Ich kann jedem, der diesen Shawl stricken möchte, nur empfehlen, sich vorher durch den Rosy Fingered Dawn KAL (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RosyFingeredDawnKAL/) zu wühlen. Auch wenn die Gruppe nicht mehr richtig aktiv ist, findet man doch viele nützliche Hinweise, so z.B. auch bzgl. der Wolle. Manche Teilnehmer berichteten, dass ihnen die Wolle während des Strickens öfters gerissen ist, da sie so unregelmäßig sei. Ich hatte diese Erfahrung nicht. Mir ist sie nicht gerissen, obwohl sie manchmal recht dünn aussah. Ich hatte allerdings heftig mit dem Wickeln der Stränge zu kämpfen. 2 Stränge waren so verwurschtelt, dass ich sie per Hand wickeln und dabei das Ganze entwirren musste. Das dauerte so ingesamt schon einige Stunden.

Die Farben sind auch dunkler als erwartet. Für meine Erwartungshaltung konnte aber der Händler nichts. Auf seiner Site sieht der Shawl recht realitätsnah aus. Ich hatte natürlich vorher einige Blogs, die diesen Shawl zeigen, durchstöbert. Und da war der Shawl von den Farben her hell und ... wow. So wie bei mir . Alles in allem würde ich den Shawl mit anderer Wolle und anderen Farben stricken,wenn man ein helles, leichtes Etwas möchte. So habe ich jetzt einen deftigen, wärmenden Shawl in gedeckten Farben.

Before I dressed Mystery 5 I blocked Rosy. A lot of tugging! I would not lable the yarn lace-weight. It is quite thick for that. I would recommend everybody wanting to knit the shawl to look at the Rosy Fingered Dawn KAL (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RosyFingeredDawnKAL/) for information. Even if the group is not very active anymore, it is full of useful information. I guess, I read the info on yarn thickness there. Some members wrote about the yarn tearing while knitting with it because of inconstancies within the yarn. Nothing teared apart in my knitting even though the yarn looked quite thin from time to time. But I had a hard fight with the yarn winding to a ball. 2 strands were so entangled that I had to wind the balls by hand and unravel the stuff during winding. Al in all the whole action costed me a couple of hours.

The colours are much darker than I expected it. My expectations are defintely not the yarn shop's fault. Their website shows the colour range in a quite correct way. Before ordering the kit I looked at some blogs who had pictures of their shawls. The shawl was so bright and ... wow. Like on my picture . If I would do the shawl again, I would choose another lighter yarn in brighter shadings. For now I have a quite bulky but warm shawl in muted colours.

Mystery Shawl 5 - das Ende / Mystery 5 - the final curtain

Nachdem der Shawl fast 2 Wochen gelegen hat (zusammen mit Rosy), habe ich mich in einem Anfall von Aktionismus dann aufgerafft und ihn beblockt. Wellen sollten es sein, und das heißt mindestens 3 Nadeln pro Spitze um eben keine Spitze zu produzieren. Er ist nach dem Spannen größer geworden als es zuerst aussah *freu*. Das Design von Renee ist wieder sehr schön, auch wenn, wie schon ein paar Mal genörgelt, ich die meisten Pi-Shawls im Stricken meistens langweilig finde. Aber was soll's, ich liebe diese Mysteries und werde sie wohl immer mitmachen, auch wenn das Thema Pi ist. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir doch immer .

After resting for nearly 2 weeks (together with Rosy) I pinned out Mystery 5 in a certain attack of actionism. It should be a wavy edge, means at least 3 needles per peak to get a wave and not just the peak. After dressing the shawl it was larger than I expected it *happy dance*. The design by Rene is beautiful as ever, even I do not like Pi shawls so much because most patterns are all the same in one section and that is a little bit boring (as mentioned a couple of times before). Never mind, I will always take part in the Mystery knittings even if the topic is a Pi. The outcome always pleases me.

Bild zum Gnubbel-Bolero / Picture of the bobble bolero

Und hier ein erstes eigenes Bild des werdenden Boleros. Ich hatte mit einer Baby-Viskose-Wolle begonnen und festgestellt, dass das alles zu 'fett' und polsterig wird. Trotzdem die Wolle eine halbe Nadelstärke unter der Originalwolle lag, und trotzdem ich das Teil eine halbe Nadelstärke höher als die Anleitung es verlangte strickte (da dann die Maschenprobe stimmte), sah ich mich schon als sommerliches Michelin-Männchen herumrennen. Also nach endlosen Gnubbelreihen alles wieder aufribbeln .

Die Bolero-Originalwolle ist von Lang Yarns und heißt Kira. Es ist ein Viskose-Mischgarn in Schlauchstrick, dass sehr leicht ist und wohl sehr schön fällt. Leider waren die Farben der Originalwolle nicht so mein Fall (für mich alle zu graustichig-blass-pudrig, passt nicht zu meiner Hautfarbe), also musste wieder eine passende Alternative her. Ich entschied mich für ein dünneres Baumwollgarn und stricke es mit der in der Anleitung vorgeschriebenen Nadelstärke. Bis jetzt sieht es erfolgversprechend aus. Jedem, der dieses Jäckchen eventuell nacharbeiten will, kann ich nur empfehlen: Übe Dich in Geduld, denn eine Noppenreihe braucht ZEIT und Gelenkschmalz. Aber es sieht toll aus... für meinen Geschmack .

A first picture of the bobble bolero. I started the piece with real nice baby- viscose-yarn. After a couple of rows (of course a lot of bobbles) I decided to rib the whole stuff because it seems so voluminous that I saw myself walking as a summerly Michelin manikin. Although the recommended needle size for the yarn was half a size below the original instruction's and I knitted it with larger needles due to the gauge swatch, it was not working .

The original yarn is from Lang Yarns and called Kira. It is a viscose mixture tube yarn which is very light with a nice 'drape'. Unfortunately the colour range ist not mine. Colours are too greyish and pale for my skin colour, hence I needed and alternative. I took a thinner cotton yarn and knit it with the original recommended needle size. It looks promising. A small comment for everybody who likes to work this bolero: Be patient - a bobble row requires some TIME and some 'joint lard'. But the outcome is nice...my taste .

Rosy wird gezähmt / Dressing Rosy

Ich VERABSCHEUE das Spannen von Spitzenschals. Warum nur macht das Stricken Spaß und dieses blöde Pinnen ist so nervig? Meistens liegt ein fertiger Schal bei mir 2-3 Wochen nur so herum, weil ich mich vor dem Spannen drücke. Heute habe ich mich überwunden und Rosy gewaschen und aufgespannt. Vielleicht kann man anhand des etwas miesen (da vom Handy und im Halbdunkel) Bildes erkennen, warum das so nervt. 1. Ein 2mx2m-Bett ist komplett belegt, 2. traben immer wieder Katzen über alles drüber und lösen die Nadeln, so daß man 3. immer wieder nachkontrollieren muss und 4. man Blut und Wasser schwitzt und der Rücken einem schmerzt, bis alle Nadeln sitzen und das Teil heftig gespannt ist. Aber genug Gemosere. Das Teil muss jetzt nur noch trocknen. Ab heute abend habe ich wieder meine gute Kamera, dann gibt es schönere Bilder.

I ABHOR lace dressing. Why does it is so much fun to knit those shawls and the stupid blocking is so annoying? Most of the time a shawl waits 2-3 weeks to be blocked, because I want to weasel myself out of that. But there is no one taking this work away from me . Today I was able to wash and dress Rosy. Maybe you can see why it is so annoying (bad pics from mobile, sorry). 1. a whole 2mx2m bed is obstructed, 2. cats trotting all over it loosening needles when it looks like big cat (I) does not like this and howls and therefore 3. you have to control the needles from time to time and 4. you sweat blood and tears and your back aches until all needles are in their place and the piece is pinned out tense. That is for the moaning. The piece has to dry yet. From today evening on I have my good camera back and better pictures will follow.

Bolero für den Sommer... braucht auch so lange / A shrug for summer...and I will need that time

***Ich habe das Bolero-Bild herausgenommen, da in Deutschland wohl mal wieder'ne Abmahnwelle rollt und diesesmal auch private Blogs nicht verschont werden. Ich werde wohl doch nur Bildmaterial einstellen, dass definitiv von mir stammt. Also keine Vorschaubilder für Projekte ***

Ich wollte dieses Spitzen-Knubbel-Teil seit ich es das erste Mal in der aktuellen Sabrina Strick-Trends gesehen habe. Nur die Wolle...die Farbe sieht im Heft toll aus. Als ich dann aber eine Farbtabelle im Web gesehen habe, kam sie mir zu blass für mich vor. Jetzt musste irgendwie eine Alternative her. Solange ich am Mystery 5 strickte kam aber etwas neues nicht in Frage. Ich tanze eh schon auf zu vielen Hochzeiten. Aber das Mystery-Tuch ist fertig. Ein Bild vom letzten Hinweis kommt demnächst, Restbilder noch später (Kamera gerade mit Ehemann unterwegs). Außerdem muss ich diesen Shawl als auch Rosy Fingered Dawn noch blocken...grrr, ich mag das nicht.

Ein Teil fertig, das geht doch nicht. Da muss doch sofort wieder etwas Neues auf die Nadeln, damit man immer genügend Druck hat. Heute morgen sofort Wolle bei Wolle-Rödel erstanden. Ein Viskosemix in einem ganz hellen Flieder-/Blauton.

Der Bolero ist jedenfalls auch wieder Geduldssache...und eine Kraftübung für die Gelenke. Für eine superlange Reihe Knubbel brauchte ich fast 2 Stunden. Auch wenn das Teil nicht lang wird, werde ich wohl eine Weile dafür brauchen, alleine um meine Gelenke zu schonen .

I wanted this lace-bobble-thingy since I caught a first glance on it in the new Sabrina Strick-Trends (a German knitting magazine). The problem was the yarn. It looked nice to me in the magazine but I saw it in a colour card on the web and it looked too pale for me. So I needed an alternative. As long as I was knitting on the Mystery 5 shawl I did not want to start something new (too many things in work are plain stress - no feeling of success in finishing up a thing). But now the Mystery is over. One picture of the last clue will follow soon, pictures of the unblocked thing later (camera is on a trip with hubbie). And besides that I have to dress the Mystery and the Rosy Fingered Dawn ...do not like this.

One piece finished ! But that is not possible. I have to get something new on my needles just to keep the pressure at the correct level. So I went to Wolle-Rödel this morning and bought a viscose mix in a real light lilac/blue nuance.

Anyhow the shrug is a piece of patience...and a torture for the ankles. It took me around 2 hours to finish one super long bobble row. Although the piece will not be long, I think it will take some time to finish it when I want to take care of my joints.

Endlich eine Socke fertig / Finally one sock knitted

Es hat lange gedauert, aber gestern Abend war ich in Schwung und habe endlich die erste Socke von den Jaywalkers fertig bekommen. Sogar das Bündchen für die zweite Socke ist schon auf den Nadeln. Mal sehen, wie lange es da dauert. Ich war durch das 4. Muster des Mystery 5 ziemlich in Aktion. Schließlich hat man da pro Reihe 576 Maschen zu stricken und das über 96 Reihen. Es war dröge und dem Muster im 2. Clue super ähnlich. An sich eine reine Fleißarbeit. Ich hoffe nur, dass das Ergebnis schön aussieht. Hier ein Bild vom Jaywalker-Muster:

It took some time but yesterday evening was the right evening to finish the first sock of the famous Jaywalkers. I even was able to start the ribbing of the second one. Let's see how long I will need to finish that one. I was pretty busy with the 4th clue of the Mystery 5 shawl. I mean, you have 576 stitches on the needle and have to knit that for 96 rows. It was merely a work of diligence, not real fun. Besides the fact that clue 4 was nearly the same as clue 2. I hope the outcome will look nice. And now a picture of the Jaywalker pattern:

Rosy Fingered Dawn - das Ende / the end

Rosy Fingered Dawn ist beendet nach einer nervigen Tüftelei zu Beginn des Randes. Wenn ich Bilder des fertig gespannten Shawls habe, werde ich noch einen Kommentar zu Anleitung, Wolle, Größe und Hilfsmittel schreiben.

Da ich etwas für meinen süßen Zahn während des Randstrickens brauchte, gab es gestern das:

Rosy Fingered Dawn is finished after a real annoying fiddling at the beginning of the edging. When I upload pictures of the blocked shawl I will write also a comment on the pattern instructions, the yarn, size and tools.

While I was knitting on the edging I needed something for my sweet tooth...look above... a real yummy Gugelhupf with a cinnamon sugar swirl.
