Mir kam da mal so eine Idee, .../ Well, there came to me this idea..

...dass man - in dem Fall ich - doch als Großprojekt des Jahres 2012 den Beekeeper's Quilt machen könnte. Im letzten Sommer oder so, als das Muster herausgekommen war, hatte ich schon ein paar Hexipuffs gestrickt. War auch spaßig, aber ab August war Weihnachtsstricken angesagt und damit alles andere mehr oder minder abgehakt...auch die Hexipuffs. Der Januar ist wieder mit ein paar Geburtstagsprojekten gepflastert, also wäre ein guter Startpunkt Februar. Gestern hatte ich dann nichts mehr an Kleinkramstrickerei für die Tasche und da kam mir dann so ein Hexipuff genau richtig. Nr. 1 am 29.01., Nr. 2 am 30.01 (Mittagspause).

... that I probably could do the Beekeeper's Quilt for Big Project 2012. I normally do not setup project plans for the upcoming year regarding knitting or any other of my recreational stuff. But I would like to have this quilt. I made a couple of puffs last year but when I started Christmas knitting around August everything 'normal' was on hold and I forgot about it. In January there were still some birthday presents to be done and so February would have been a perfect starting point on my road to the Beekeeper's Quilt. Surprise, with no small portable project on any emergency project list anymore I made the first puff yesterday and today -during lunch break- the 2nd.

Ich möchte gerne 7 Stück pro Woche schaffen. Würde das klappen, hätte ich am Ende des Jahres den Grundstock für den Quilt zusammen. Und außerdem könnte ich jede Woche einen Eintrag mit dem Ergebnis der Woche einstellen. Würden zwar immer nur Hexipuffs in unterschiedlichen Farben sein, aber es setzt mich unter Druck.

My goal is to knit at least 7 hexipuffs per week. If I could meet those requirements, I would have enough puffs for the quilt by the end of the year. And I could update this blog at least once a week with my 'boring' puffs. Yeah, I am not planning to do something fancy-schmancy. So it will always be a variation on the same theme.

Ansonsten möchte ich meine UFOs abarbeiten, von denen die meisten nicht unbedingt portabel sind. Entweder futzelig mit ständig Muster und Perlen oder zu groß.

Apart from that I would like to finish some of me WIPs. Most of them are of the just-do-it-at-home kind, means too huge or with beads and a lot of charts.

Und vielleicht schaffe ich es ja auch, ein paar andere Dinge zusätzlich einzustellen. Fotos werden wahrscheinlich alle nur noch mit Mobile-Kamera gemacht. Sonst klappt das gar nicht. Ich bin zu faul, den PC zu starten und mit Kamera und Bildbearbeitung noch zusätzlich Zeit zu verbringen.

Maybe I will be able to upload some more projects. Pictures will be taken with mobile cam only, I guess. I am too lazy to start my PC and spend time with my camera and photo editing.

Through The Loops - Socktober Mystery Socks 2010

...und noch ein Paar Socken. Mein erstes Socks-Mystery. Hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht und die Sockenfarbe hat immer gute Laune verbreitet.

...and again some socks. My first socks mystery KAL. I had a lot of fun knitting the pattern and the colour of the yarn was cheering up every time I worked at the socks.

Hermione Socks

Endlich fertig...und ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. Farbe, Wolle und Muster - prima.
Wolle: Schoeller+Stahl - Fortissima Color - No. 169 - 100g (mit viel Rest, langt noch für ein Paar Sneaker-Socken, denke ich)
Nadeln: 2,5mm - Magic Loop, 2-at-a-time, toe-up

Finally finished... and I am really happy with the outcome. Colour, yarn and pattern are wonderful.
Yarn: Schoeller+Stahl - Fortissima Color - No. 169 - 100g (with a good amount of leftover yarn for some sneaker socks, I think)
Needles: 2.5mm - Magic Loop, 2-at-a-time, toe-up

Travelling Woman

Ich hatte im Socks from the toe up KAL einen Strang Sockenwolle 'Barefoot' von Mountain Colors in der Farbe 'Gold Rush' gewonnen. Die Wolle sollte ein Travelling Woman werden, ideal für Radfahrten im Herbst. Da ich das Garn so ziemlich komplett verbrauchen wollte, habe ich Chart A 5-mal gestrickt und bin dann zum Abschlusschart übergegangen. Mir war ziemlich schnell klar, dass die Wolle nicht ausreichen würde. Also wird die Anleitung mal schnell angepasst. Ich habe bis R. 11 nach Vorgabe gestrickt, ab der 12. R. einfach die glatten Rückreihen herausgelassen und damit richtige Spitze gearbeitet. Ein paar ad hoc-Anpassungen jeweils für den Anfang und das Ende, das war's. Am Ende hatte ich noch ca. 70 cm Restgarn. Alles in allem ziemlich perfekt. Hier ein paar Bilder vom Spannen:

I had this handpainted sock yarn Barefoot from Mountain Colors in the colourway Gold Rush I won in the Socks from the toe up KAL. This yarn was perfect for a Travelling Woman for autumn bike rides. I wanted to use up all the yarn and did more repeats of chart A. I weighed the remaining yarn each time I had finished a rep. and decided how to go on. Finally I did 5 rep. of A. I was quite sure that the yarn would not be enough for chart B. The solution was to knit the B chart in the normal way till row 11. The next row -a back row- I skipped and knitted row 13 instead. From this part on I made true lace, knitting pattern in each row. I had to adapt the beginning and the end section but that was not too difficult. In the end I had around 70 cm of yarn left. So, perfect result . Here are some blocking pics:

Chickami

Letztes Jahr habe ich das erste Mal ein Top nach der Universalanleitung "Chickami" von Chicknits gestrickt...leider zum Ausklang des Sommers. Dieses Jahr kam das Teilchen dann öfters zum Einsatz, da es super passt, sehr bequem und dank des hohen Ausschnittes bei sehr heißem Wetter sogar bürotauglich ist.

Da das Ganze dann auch noch rund und glatt rechts gestrickt wird, kann man nebenbei lesen etc.

So entstanden 3 weitere, mal mit breiten Trägern, mal mit schmalen. Das letzte Top ist z.Zt. in der Pause. Man kann das Top auch prima als Pullunder tragen.

Last year at the end of the summer I made the first Chickami by Chicknits. I could wear it this year for the first time...and I liked it so much that I made three more and the 4th is currently on hiatus. I made one with wide straps, the others with small straps. You can wear it as a vest, too.

The pattern is great, knitted in the round mostly plain stockinette and therefore ideal for reading while knitting etc.

Bunny Blanket

Freunde von uns werden demnächst Eltern. Sie adoptieren einen kleinen Jungen. Damit der Bub auf dem Weg ins neue zu Hause etwas zum Festhalten hat, habe ich nach der Vorlage von Lion Brand Yarns ein Hasen-Knuddeltuch gestrickt. Da die Wolle -ein dickes Chenillegarn- hier nicht verfügbar ist, habe ich Wolle-Rödel geplündert. Meine Wahl: Filosoft. Der Knuddeltierkörper wurde mit Nd. 5mm, der Kopf mit 4mm gestrickt.

Verbrauch: 3 Kn. plus 1 Kn. in schwarz für das Gesicht und 1 Kn. rot für den Schal.

Modifikationen: Zunahmen bis auf 94 M., Kopf über 40 M. mit Nd. 4mm.

Füllung: Genähtes Musselinkissen mit waschbarem Füllmaterial gestopft.


Our friends will adopt a toddler soon. And while he will be on his way to his new home the bunny blanket should comfort him a little bit. The pattern is from Lion Brand Yarns. For we cannot buy the recommended yarn in Germany I chose the yarn Filosoft from Wolle Rödel.

Yarn:
Filosoft, 3 balls plus 1 ball in black for the embroidery and 1 ball in red for the scarf

Modifications:
Inc. to 94 sts, work head over 40 sts

Needle size:
Nd. 5mm for body, nd. 4mm for head

Stuffing:
Sewn musselin cushion stuffed with washable and machine dryable filling

Fat Cat Knits Mixed Blessings Dezember/December 2009

Ich habe eine Mitgliedschaft für 3 Monate beim Fat Cat Knits Mixed Blessing Fiber Club. Man bekommt 2 unterschiedlich gefärbte Faserstränge unterschiedlicher Zusammensetzung. Zusammen bekommt man 5 oz. = ca. 140 gr. Im Dezember habe ich eine doppelte Dosis bekommen, da ich bei einer Auslosung gewonne hatte :-) Die Farben sind erdig-herbstlich, die Zusammensetzung wirklich genial, 50% Alpaka/ 30% Merino/ 20% Seide. Die erste Packung habe ich zwischen den Jahren verarbeitet und daraus ein mitteldickes Garn gesponnen (Nd. 5-5,5 mm).

I have a 3-month-membership for the Fat Cat Knits Mixed Blessings Fiber Club. You get 2 differently dyed fiber braids in mixed fibers. Together one bundle weighs 5 oz. In December I received a double installment because I was the lucky winner in the club's drawing. The colours are earthy autumnal in really wonderful fiber combination, 50% alpaca/ 30% merino/ 20% silk. I spun the first bundle between Christmas and New Year and got a worsted yarn (needles 5-5.5 mm).

Das zweite Paket wurde eine sehr dicke Garn, nur rund 160mtr auf 140g, aber super fluffig.
The second bundle became a bulky weight yarn, just around 160m/5oz. and very squishy.
