Moroccan Days - ich habe die erste Chartsektion abgearbeitet und es hat einfach nur Spaß gemacht. Das Muster... klasse. Die Perlen einarbeiten...klasse. Alles...klasse :-D

Spring Shawl Surprise & Moroccan Days

Der Spring Shawl ist fertig! Ich habe mich wirklich rangehalten und am Ende abends nur noch an diesem Shawl gestrickt oder wieder einmal ein bisschen gesponnen. Das geht für meinen Geschmack jetzt schon ganz gut. Der Faden ist jetzt recht konstant und so dünn wie ein Nähfaden.

An sich war als nächstes der Mystic Light KAL geplant. So lange wollte ich nichts anderes beginnen. Zwischendrin habe ich mir allerdings die Zutaten für den Moroccan Days-Shawl geholt, der nach Mystic Light kommen sollte. Nun, ML fängt erst nächste Woche an, und was soll man über Ostern bei nicht allzu gutem Wetter machen? Also habe ich am Gründonnerstag mit dem Auffädeln der Perlen begonnen. Das ging erstaunlich schnell (ca. 2 Std.). Und am Karfreitag habe ich mit der Perlenborte begonnen. Es geht zwar langsam, aber es macht sehr viel Spaß. Ach ja, ich stricke mit Uru Lace-Wolle und 3mm-Nadeln. Die Perlen sind Miyuki 8/0 in Creme für Rand und Borte und in Carnation Pink für den mittleren Teil (Änderungen vorbehalten :-)).

The Spring Shawl is finished! I tried to get a move on it and finally knitted just on this project and did a little bit of spinning. To my taste I am improving constantly. The single strand is now more or less steadily thick resp. thin as sewing thread.

I planned to take part in the Mystic Light KAL (ML) and would not like to start something else before. But -big error- I bought the material for the Moroccan Days Shawl for my stash and planned to start this after ML. Well, ML starts next week, Spring shawl is finished, Easter wheather is lousy. What else should I do? Resist the new yarn, the wonderful Uru Lace in colours of the sea? Noooo. I strung beads on Maundy Thursday. It took less hours (just around 2) I thought it would take after reading that I had to string 1.660 beads (doing the crochet on beads-method for the center). And I casted on for the bead border on Good Friday. The shawl is going slowly but it is a real pleasure to knit so far. I use 3mm/2.5 US needles and Miyuki 8/0 cream-colour beads for border and edging and carnation pink for the center (subject to alterations :-)).

Placket-Neck Pullover

Ich habe den Placket-Neck Pullover aus Last Minute Knitted Gifts fertig bekommen. Das kleine Teil war richtig schnell und nett zu stricken. Es ist ein Raglan von unten gestrickt und rundgestrickt. Also außer Kitchener Stitch und dem Untertritt am Hals war nicht viel zu nähen. Sehr zu empfehlen. Das Buch empfehle ich gerne, aber nur in Englisch, da die deutsche Übersetzung bei den Teilen, die ich nachgearbeitet habe, wirklich grottenschlecht ist.


I finished the placket-neck pullover from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. The little thing is very cute and a quick knit. It is a bottom-up Raglan in the round. Besides of using Kitchener stitch and sewing the button band there was no more sewing necessary. Highly recommended. I can recommend the book (the English version) as well.

Baby-Sachen / Baby things

Zwei Kolleginnen von mir sind schwanger. Des Strickers Freude ;-). Für die eine habe ich schon im Urlaub mit einer Baby-Jacke aus dem Buch 'Greetings from the Knit Café' angefangen und vorgestern beendet. Die Anleitung heißt 'Judy's Grandmother's Baby Jacket'. Sie geht an sich schnell von der Hand, wenn man nicht so trödelt wie ich. Dazu gab es noch ein Paar Schühchen nach einer Anleitung aus 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts' (Angora Baby Booties). Für die zweite Kollegin ist jetzt der 'Placket-Neck Pullover' aus 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts' plus diese Booties in Arbeit. Alles ist so winzig. Das da ein Mensch hineinpasst .


Two of my colleagues are pregnant. A knitter's delight ;-). For one of them I knitted the 'Judy's Grandmother's Baby Jacket' from the book 'Greetings from the Knit Café'. I started the jacket during my holidays in december and finally finished it the day before yesterday. The pattern normally is a quick knit instead you are dawdling as I did. Additionally I made the 'Angora Baby Booties' from 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts'. The 2nd colleague will receive the 'Placket-Neck Pullover', a pattern from 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts' as well, and some booties too. Everything is so tiny. That a single human being can wear this ...

Spring Shawl Surprise Clue 6-7

Hier ist der Grund, warum ich meine Clues nicht fertig habe:

Ein Kurztrip nach Mallorca um Freunde, die dort leben, zu besuchen. Stricken mit Metallnadeln im Flugzeug nicht möglich und auf Mallorca schon gar nicht, da es dort viele andere Dinge gab, die Vorrang hatten (z.B. Bunyols essen ).

Ich hatte meine Spindel dabei und habe ein bisschen an dem Garn für meines Vaters Mütze gearbeitet.



A short trip to Mallorca to visit friends living there, no knitting on the plane with metal needles, no knitting while at Mallorca because we had so many things to do there (e.g. eating bunyols ).


I had my drop spindle with me to work on the yarn for my father's hat.






Nach dem Kurzurlaub habe ich dann Clue 7 fertig bekommen und bin in den letzten paar Reihen von Clue 8. Hier ein nicht allzu prickelndes Foto:

Misty Garden - eher Misty Sea / turns to Misty Sea

Mein vom-weißen-Kardenband-zu-einem-farbigen-Schal-Projekt war wohl ein Speed-Projekt :-D Da ich auf jeden Fall bis März etwas haben wollte, habe ich die Spindel gegen das Spinnrad ausgetauscht. Und es ging -trotzdem ich ein echter Anfänger bin- super schnell. Die Wolle von meiner Spindel habe ich auch verzwirnt. Sie wandert jetzt in eine Mütze für meinen Vater, der total begeistert von den Farben ist.

The from-white-roving-to-a-coloured-scarf-project developed to a speed project :-D. Because I had a time frame in my head being ready with the yarn at least till beginning of march (to have something to offer) I switched from spindle to wheel. It went very fast although I am a real beginner in spinning. The yarn from the spindle I plied too. It is going to be part of a hat for my father who is in love with the yarn and the colours.

Nach dem Zwirnen und Waschen war das Garn ganz schön dick geworden...und superweich. Ich muss erst einmal ein Feeling dafür bekommen, wie dick oder dünn ein Faden sein muss, damit er 2-fädig einer bestimmten Nadelstärke entspricht. Glücklicherweise ist das bei einem Schal, der nicht mit ganz dünnen Nadeln gestrickt wird und dann riesig würde, nicht so schlimm.

So sah dann die Maschenprobe mit Nd. 6mm statt Nd. 4.5mm aus. Ich war erstaunt. Hey, das habe ich gemacht :-).

After plying and washing the yarn it bloomed a lot and was bulky...and super soft. As a beginner I have to develop a feeling about the singles size I have to spin to get the yarn for the needle size I want to use. Fortunateley is not so important for a scarf project as long as it is not knitted with super-thin yarn with the outcome of a huge scarf.



And this is what the gauge swatch looked like with needle size 6mm instead of 4.5mm. I was amazed. I did that :-).






Den Schal zu stricken war dann ein Kinderspiel und ging schneller als erwartet, knapp zwei Tage mit den dicken Nadeln. Da der Schal nicht allzu breit und lang ist (ca. 1,50m), ging das Ganze wirklich gut.

Knitting the scarf was a piece of cake. Hence the project width and length (approx. 1.50m) is moderate, 2 days and it was finished.
